A slight rebranding of Gartelmann’s Mudgee Petit Verdot release, naming the high altitude area of Rylstone where the vineyards are based at 660m. 14 months maturation in French and American oak.
Gartelmann, Rylstone, Petit Verdot, Mudgee, 2015
A complex and layered nose with blackberry, purple berries, coffee grounds, jasmine flowers, cola, vanilla, dried spices and and a dark inky quality. The American oak gives a coconut slice influence before mouth coating dusty tannins and powerful dark fruits with a cheeky bright purple lift at the finish. This isn’t a opulent fruit bomb, but will take time for the tannins to settle down so give it a little more time.
