Refers to the slight evaporation of wine from the barrels that medieval winemakers assumed was taken by the angels who watched over their barrels.
Two Hands, Angels’ Share, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2017
Dark garnet with a bright rim…ever so slightly glass staining. Coconutty oak, oozing with rich plum, dark raspberry, blueberry jubes, a stalagmite spike of minerally graphite and floral rose petal. Medium-full bodied with a sharp thrust of high pitched acidity and a coating of fine tannin. Darkly fruited: sour cherry and just ripe plum with richer raspberry and cooling mineral lines to finish. Rich and deeply fruited, yet maintains freshness.
