Matt Burton rolls from strength to strength as a winemaker.
Gundog Estate, Hunter’s, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2017
9 months in French Oak. This proffers licorice spice and leather over blood plum and rum & raisin chocolate. There’s a note reminiscent of old black/chalk board and lingering blueberry fruit note. On the palate, modern Hunter abounds with a ripe and generous palate. True to regional form the tannins verge on dusty. Spice and meaty notes with a solid push of flavour.
