Mitolo Jester Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

“A jester unemployed is nobody’s fool!”
― Danny Kaye, The Court Jester

No such trouble here, Danny. 100% used French oak for 18 months.

Mitolo, Jester, Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale, 2016

Light bitumen and meaty traces: seems more savoury than it’s fleshy sibling.  Smooth black, yet mineral edged fruit. Undeniably cabernet: earthy, just so tannins, hints of mint yet regionality of underlying red fruit and bloody ferrous notes.  It’s a fun ride, for sure and at least some magic to please the crowds with, rather than simple balloon animals.
