A new release for d’Arenberg….Anyways, Hunjee is Australian slang for 100 is apparently the perfect score when reviewing wine. Though I use 20. Maybe I’m not perfect. Old Oak.
d’Arenberg, The Hunjee Heartstring, Montepulciano, McLaren Vale, 2018
Cherry, smoky roast meat pan bits, mulberry and boysenberry, purple plum, brown spice and a touch of earthy fennel. Medium bodied, with a satiny and fruit forward palate: plenty of McLaren Vale dark berries underscored with a savoury Turkish coffee and bitter olive edge, framed by quiet d’Arenberg oak. Tight tannins and a medium amount of acidity make this super food friendly…though serve in a new world burg glass and you’re in danger of reaching for 1 more.
