McWilliam’s Mount Pleasant B-Side LS8 Semillon 2013

I first tasted this wine at the New South Wales Food and Wine Festival and quickly marked it, along with its siblings, as one of the highlights of the day.

Soft pale lemon colour in the glass. Lovely soft, yet still bright lemon citrus nose of “Schweppes” lemonade and icy pole. Fruit sweet, slightly zingy on the front palate. Plenty of soft lemon fruit and bright white flower florals. Lingering flavour of crisp green apple and archetypical Hunter Semillon acidity.

So juicy. So delectable.

A little residual sugar and only 8% alcohol makes this ridiculously drinkable. Bravo McWilliam’s to create a wine of place and for drinking, not thinking.
