From the Calabria Family who make the excellent “Private Bin” range of alternative varieties sourced predominantly NSW Riverina. This wine is from their Barossa Valley plantings.
Calabria Bros., Shiraz, Barossa Valley, South Australia 2012
Overtly meaty, countered with tart cherries and sweet oak. Smells a touch reductive but glossy. The palate is medium bodied rather than an over the top Barossa monster but flavour is a touch short: more like Cherry water. Plenty of drying, gritty, sandy tannins. Disappointing, this is a little hard to like after the incredibly drinkable Private Bin range.
