Hoddles Creek Estate Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2015

The latest release from Franco D’Anna and the talented team at Hoddles Creek. The trade sticker on the bottle states:

Looking for more tannin, better tannin.”

Hoddles Creek Estate, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley 2015

Straight out of the glass, this smells spot on. Delicious fruit smells of baked cherry tart and boysenberry ice cream. The tiniest amount of woody 5 Spice adds the right amount of intrigue. If more and better tannin was Franco was trying to achieve, he’s done it. The tannins are fine, plentiful, supportive (not obtrusive) and feel like they belong in a wine twice the price. The fruit just savoury, understated and elegant…Franco doesn’t feel the need to plump up a wine at this price with sweet, simple flavours. Yet again, this label proves to be arguably Australia’s  best value pinot noir.

RRP: $21

Alc: 13.2%
