The Bella Riva vineyard (meaning Beautiful Shore) overlooking the King River was planted by the De Bortoli family in the early 90s.
De Bortoli Bella Riva Sangiovese, King Valley 2013
18 Months of maturation in older oak casks. Comes across a little dull but not dead. With dark morello cherry, lick of red licorice, a hint of vanilla/cola and plenty dried mixed “Italian” herbs. The palate is easy, plenty of dark, smoky cherry fruit and definitely made for food matching. The acidity is still up enough and the tannins approachable. Sits at it’s price point, and would happily enough be invited to your local pizza joint for a Sunday night lazy dinner.
RRP: $16
Alc: 14%
