Dense colour with a dark black olive hue. Pencilled and herbaceous, steely and spirituous with deep concentrated cassis. Fresh turned earth and a touch of rubbery black/red fruit and wrapped up with a milky dollop of baked chocolate ganache.
Round on the palate, sweet red and black fruit: toasted sour blackberry and coffee lolly essence. Tart and with spicy leafy notes that wrap dolmades-style around the core of fine sandy tannins. Lingering delicious tart black fruit. Don’t get me wrong, this has elegance and stature, but the roasting coffee essence jars a touch, so the North Block pips this and for wins the day for me
