Andrew “Thommo” Thomas’ nod to the land of his raising and his father in the use of the McLaren Vale fruit….
Thomas Wines, Two of a Kind, Shiraz, Hunter Valley/McLaren Vale 2014
60% Hunter, 40%McLaren Vale. Milky and smoky, yet polished oak with almost a jaffa/choc nut type of scent.
Inherent sweetness from McLaren Vale with less tannin than a straight Hunter…the Jubey plums overlay dusty violets. Core of sweetheart boysenberry that finishes with a sour cherry danish. T’is not meant to be the most complex of Thommo’s wines (ultimately smash juice with an element of class), but still manages to hold firm with dignity. Drink up whilst waiting for the Kiss and the Sweetwater age graciously.
