“Nero” is getting more and more visibility in Australia. Certainly nothing wrong with that. This may be the most keenly priced and arguably the best priced.

Calabria Private Bin, Nero D’Avola, Riverina 2015

Seems brighter than the 2014, with riper red fruits of Christmas cherries, clove studded orange glazed hams, plenty of dried rosemary and some bike tyre inner-tube rubber. Feels like a “stepped” wine….there’s structure then a vertical leap of fruit, then again structure and then upwards of fruit. A metallic/tin foil lilt structure before fruit toast like spice/sweetness and cherry. Finishes with groovy tannins.  A wine for fire sides and roast beasts.
