I caught up with Johnno Harris at Game Of Rhones in Melbourne, June 2016. I’d tasted this and the other 2013 Reds, and said that I was getting around to posting my reviews “imminently.” Well, “imminently” has turned out to be 3 months later…Sorry Johnno.
Mitchell Harris, Shiraz, Pyrenees 2013
Very ripe and lifted. 25% Whole bunches. 2% Viognier really stands out, along with fresh and dried herbs. Anise, blueberry and a hint of drying soy/umami (vintage perhaps). White pepper, umami/tamari, black and blue fruits with fine drying, grainy tannins that leave an ashen note before the bright apricot stone fruit apology. Ultimately tasty, but potentially vintage constrained.
RRP: $35
Alc: 13.8%
