The “Blass” and “Blass Noir” range from Wolf Blass are relatively new addition to the stage, with a “focus on experimentation and style from admired regions.” With 2 levels to the range, the “Blass” is the less expensive. Exclusive to Woolworth’s stores: BWS and Dan Murphy’s.
Wolf Blass, “Blass” Black Spice Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2014
As you’d expect: opaque purple in the glass. There’s a treacle/molasses note alongside woody cherry, bluestone rocks, blackcurrant and clove spiced plums. Soft leather, varnish with white SAXA pepper. Smooth, easy yet bright on the palate: The soft oak more crowd friendly than a David Guetta remix. With hands reaching for the lasers: there’s plush Barossa plum jam and maraschino cherry before savoury tar and just the right amount of tannin to rumble over your teeth. A good value, drink up proposition.
