Wolf Blass “Blass Noir” Chardonnay 2015

The Blass Noir range give recognition to long time senior winemaker Chris Hatcher: his signature prominently adorning the classy packaging on the front, and with Wolf’s on the back. This range exclusive to Woolworth’s Dan Murphy’s.

Wolf Blass “Blass Noir” Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills, 2015

9 months new and old French oak. Light gold in the glass. Cedary, balsa wood oak smells initially overpower lemon tart, peach skin and green apple skin. Some omelette/eggy sulfides get blown away to reveal a light vanilla creme and butter. Palate is almost more than medium bodied: solid, forthright. Obligatory phenolic grip loosens to shake out some melon and peachy stone fruit. Acids are green apple juicy and the aftertaste of light lemon and smoky straw. Good, almost very good…but I’d like to see some more sparkle to it, but then, it is the “Noir” range.

RRP: $34.99

Alc: 13.5%
