Younger brother of the Virgilus, (long held as a benchmark of Viognier) and part of the “Samuel’s Garden” collection.
Yalumba, Viognier, Eden Valley 2015

Not quite ripe crisp stonefruit slices, ginger nut snap biscuits and a lightness of white flowers/jasmine. Smells soapy dental hygiene fresh.
Unique palate: Asian broth/lemongrass like spiciness and richness of mouth feel. Quandong citrus fruit, lime pith and almond husk all shuffles along before there’s a sharp nectarine stone fruit twist. Very good example of an oft unrecognised (at least in Australia) variety.
