Brokenwood Kat’s Block Shiraz 2014

Sourced from a single block in the famous Graveyard Vineyard, named after Katrina Barry, assistant vineyard manager and all round great person. 2014 was an excellent vintage in the Hunter and the quality of fruit shows through.

Brokenwood, Kat’s Block, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2014

katsblockshiraz

Wet Damson plum and fresh oak spice before smoky black pepper and meaty Hungarian salami. Profound perfume, yet not indelicate.  Bright fruit on the palate feels like it is straining against the oak, crying to break through. Once the veneer falls, there’s plenty of cracked black pepper, soppy plum and raspberry flesh and juice. The tannins are firm and persistent but not overpowering. A quality inclusion in the line up for Brokenwood.

RRP: $75
