Brokenwood, Poppy’s Block Semillon, Hunter Valley, 2015
Pale gold in the glass with green highlights. Aromas of Lantana, lemon citrus before a smoky grassy note. Even a hint of dried tropical fruit. Special chalky structure, wrapped around lime/lemon citrus and not quite ripe white nectarine slices. As a good young Hunter Sem should, it seems to withdraw in on itself like an Echidna shielding the body and exposing the spines: culminating in a very fine point. Delicious now but should unfurl and expose the richness of fruit in 6-8 years time.
