Brokenwood, Sangiovese, Beechworth 2015
Bright cherry, earthy rhubarb, fresh oregano leaf, a little bit of waxy lipstick, vanilla bean. Just medium bodied. Fruit sweet and yet savoury: It bickers and charms, like the front of house team at your favourite Italian restaurant. The quality of the fruit is tannins are fine and gauze like. A step up from your average Australian Sangiovese. It might be blasphemous to mention anything other than pinot, but serve this up with confit duck and you’re on a Continental winner.
