Very little Pinot Blanc grown in Australia. In fact, according to the Winemaker’s Federation of Australia 2015 vintage report it doesn’t even rate as a single varietal statistic. This one apparently comes from a 19 year old vineyard….potentially one of the oldest in Australia?
Hoddles Creek Estate, Pinot Blanc, Yarra Valley, 2016
Soft and fruity tropical melon notes with a lemon zest freshness, oft-set with a doughy, sweaty (but not unpleasant) note. Lightly fruited, crisp, rocky and nutty (almost a fresh version of a Manzanilla). Textural (thanks lees ageing) and simply delicious. Just fun to drink. If you have to buy one Pinot Blanc…make it this one.
RRP: $21.99
Alc: 12.5%
