At this moment in time, Coonawarra is one of the few wine regions in Australia I’ve not been to. Luckily, all this is going to change as Mrs Drew and I will be headed there in January 2017 for the Coonawarra Cup. Anyway, here’s a look
DiGiorgio Family Wines Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra 2014
18 Months in French and American oak, 35% new, 35% second use and 30% old oak. Sweet cassis, blackberry and blueberry tempered by soft mint and tobacco. Immediately approachable, oak treatment gives a gently gently approach. The tannins are sandy, plentiful and grippy, and remain well after the easy blackcurrant and smoky flavours have gone. Pleasant enough regional example.
RRP: $26
Alc: 13.5%
