Chenin Blanc suffers a little in the publicity stakes in Australia, but when you see how it ages in the Loire Valley, only then do you see that it is a wine that has potential.
Kalleske, Florentine Chenin Blanc, Barossa Valley, 2016
Kiwifruit skin, apple and grape aromas tempered with a cafe latté/milky coffee tone and some nutty funky barrel/wild ferment notes. Soft tropical melon, white nectarine and easy lime citrus flavours before the smoky and textural mouth feel from the barrel work. Chenin’s tell tale acid is display which zings on the teeth and foretells of a rich, honeyed future. Quality example of the grape.
RRP: $20
Alc: 11.5%
