Toolangi philosphy of growing great grapes then sending them off to the best winemakers. Like the ultimate breeding program or finishing school. This Shiraz rosé was sent off to specialists Dominique Portet. Label artwork by Julia Ritson.
Toolangi, Rosé, Shiraz, Yarra Valley 2016
Peach blush colour, bit like a sunrise. Pink/Ruby grapefruit with subtle raspberry and peach slices. Slightly savoury red fruits with a ferrous/rusty quality and finishing dry. There’s a juiciness and generosity to the palate and it hasn’t tried to be too austere. Shiraz’s natural peppery character is a pleasant aftertone. Add some chilli prawns and this will come into its own.
