This is my second look at this wine after the first bottle had an issue with the collar and cap and thus didn’t appear to show as well as I had expected it based on the pedigree. Thanks to Tahbilk and Fireworks PR for sorting a replacement.
Tahbilk, Eric Stevens Purbrick, Shiraz, Nagambie Lakes, 2012
Plenty going on here with cedary oak, fallen eucalyptus matter, baked brown spice, pencil lacquer, prunes, turned earth and pepper highlights. An abundance of flavours ranging from dark plum/prune, dark chocolate, raspberry, black peppercorn, celery and a regional eucalypt/mint character that seem to go on and on. You can almost taste the history and future of Tahbilk with this wine. It’s serious and solid, yet firmly ready for the many years ahead. Worthy of a place in the cellar.
