De Bortoli, Deen Vat Series No 4, Petit Verdot, Riverina, 2012

It’s inky, iodine, deep baked blue fruit/blueberry and purple flowers. Some cinnamon spice and vanilla oak, its smoky with dark fruits of the forest. Tannins are like a child’s onesie, full and covering everything in a slightly comical elephant fuzz, with slight metallic edge (that maybe the zip). It just needs a seriously grilled lamb backstrap with rosemary, served in a warm wrap with lettuce and garlic sauce.
