So the 2015 releases of the Wickhams Road Chardonnays were arguably some of the best seen in 2016. The Gippsland vineyards owned by Hoddles Creek must be close to 20 years old now and really starting to show the quality that defies the price.
Wickhams Road, Gippsland Chardonnay, 2016
The nose gives up primary characters of yellow peach and egg shell sulfides before sashaying through layers of light biscuit dough. A riper fruit spectrum than the Yarra sibling, displaying almost light tropical flavours with a creamy stone fruit richness and finishing tight with a grapefruit citrus acid profile. Top value option for the lovers of a fuller style.
RRP: $18
Alc: 12.5%
