Natasha “Tash” Mooney has been the guiding hand for many quality wines in South Australia for quite a while, including the E&E Black Pepper Shiraz in the Barossa and the Fox Gordon range from the Adelaide Hills. She’s stepped out on her own and created “La Bise” which is French for ‘the kiss.’
La Bise Wines, Sangiovese, Adelaide Hills, 2015
Smells like a good, dry red rather than an exciting Italian. Cooling blue fruit balanced with blackberry, licorice and an earthy quality.
Medium full with a meaty rustic twang on the palate, lots of chocolate, cherry and black fruits. Tannins are toothsome and very food friendly. It’s an food match wine and obviously well made, but it doesn’t make me swoon. Would be happy to share bottle over dinner.
