From Kalecik in the Ankara region of Turkey. This is distributed into Australia by Opal Wines. Potentially has the smallest cork I’ve ever pulled from a bottle.
Vinkara Winery, Öküzgözü, Turkey, 2013
Brown spice, stalky but large strawberries (they smell different to smaller ones), leather, blueberries and sweet pouch tobacco. Medium bodied, but a very drying palate with plenty of fresh garden herbs and a strawberry milkshake-esque lingering flavour. An absolute food matching wine with plentiful but friendly tannins. If you see it on a wine list, be not afraid.
RRP: $35 approx
Alc: 13.5%
