In a quick pinot noir blind tasting line up with a local wine maker, this one stood out well despite some initial reluctance. Wine maker is Jamie Marfell, a Marlborough native.
Stoneleigh, Classic, Pinot Noir, Marlborough, 2016
Starts out meaty and stinky. That blows off to reveal ripe black cherry and raspberry. Firm and pleasant tannins lead into a well balanced structure with plenty of “pinosity.” Good value.
