Named after Colonel Light, who named the Barossa (incorrectly, but it still works). Exclusive to Woolworth’s BWS stores. Ironically there seems to be 2 naming conventions here: Colonel & Merchant (capsule) and Colonel And The Merchant (label). How apt.
Colonel And The Merchant, Shiraz, Barossa, 2016
Fruity nose: Sweet cedar oak, cola, Easter egg chocolate, sweaty grilled ham toastie and homemade mixed berry jam. Fruit forward with mulberry, raspberry and blood plums riding a super smooth mouth feel (which is briefly interrupted with inklings of fine tannins). Never falls into the syrupy category and carries a decent finish. Bargain shoppers will be happy.
