Sourced from what was Stephen and Kate Shelmerdine‘s vineyard in Woori Yallock, a prime parcel of land that consistently produces great wines and acquired after vintage in 2016 by De Bortoli. Riorret is, of course, Terrior backwards.
Riorret, Lusatia Park, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2016
Solid packaging with Diam cork. Cherry and raspberry fruit wrapped in soft, light oak blanket with lingering cumquat citrus. Knobbly tannins that rumble along like a dropped ball bearing along a wooden floor. A richer flavoured style without being a shiraz imitator (Plenty of “pinotsity”) that will open further in time. Classy stuff.
RRP: $45
Alc: 13.5%
Rating: 17.5/20
