Gartelmann Diedrich Shiraz 2014

Not enough Hunter fruit in 2014 for Gartelmann so they sourced extra from the Clare Valley. Stylistically I don’t mind the mix, Clare can be herbal and brooding sometimes, rather than bright and breezy.

Gartelmann, Diedrich, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, Clare Valley, 2014

Plenty of dark aromas: syrupy plum juice, earthy dark rocks, mulberry heart, sweet oak, light mint, kidskin, pink peppercorns and just a little nose prickling alcohol. Layers of voluptuous plum and mulberry fruit guided by a firm hand of silty tannins. Finish is generous and sensual. No need to balk at a mutli-regional blend, just enjoy the plush result.
