Grown at Rylstone, above Mudgee at 630 metres. Could be Australia’s highest cabernet vineyard?
Gartelmann, Jonathan, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mudgee, 2013
Blackcurrant, pencil shavings, fresh paint with a stony minerally line. Some sharp acidity brightens things and slices edges off dark yeasty/savoury flavours. Drying, sour tannins fade out the slightly warm blackcurrant finish. Tastes like proper cabernet but no need to cellar any further.
