A revisit of a wine which was one of my first posts. Good to look back at the evolution of my writing and style, as well as the evolution of the wine. This was raided out of the personal cellar.
Swinging Bridge, Reserve Chardonnay, Orange, 2011
Light gold with green highlights. Mushy peach stone fruit nose with integrated oak spice leading to sandalwood. Grapefruit, pineapple core, mashed peas, roast macadamia and light cream. Still wonderfully built: acid line like a steel spine around which the stonefruit is wrapped. Pings of oak spice punctuate the assured nature of the fruit. Framing itself for a few years still, but open enough now to enjoy as an example of a maturing wine.
