The need to qualify that this spent time on skins by the nomenclature of rosé is for those shopping at a price point and cashing in on both populist tastes. Bottled by Cantine Torresella S.P.A and imported by Woolworth’s liquor arm: Pinnacle Drinks.
Torresella, Pinot Grigio Rosé, Veneto, IGT, 2016
Pale salmon colour. Working hard to get anything from the glass. Nothing bad mind you: just some weak tea, peach soap, grass, sweet pear and light grapefruit. Tangy palate but a little neutral. Pink stuff on the palate: marshmallows, cherry and then varietal pear. There’s some grip from a smidge of skin contact…but it needs more than a smidge to bring it to life. Serve it chilled and up against some spice: give it a whirl with anything that has some stinking hot chilli on top.
