Rowlee Wines Nebbiolo 2016

Sourced from vineyards sitting 950m above sea level on the slopes of Mount Canobolas in Orange, 3 hours west of Sydney.  Striking packaging, that owl can watch you from across the room.

Rowlee Wines, Nebbiolo, Orange, 2016

Like all good nebbiolo, the colour should never be an indicator of the wine, and this rings true here with a light cerise edge to an almost clear ruby heart. Fragrant and lifted nose with deep rose petal, violets, asphalt, cherries, boysenberry and anise. The sweet cedary oak kiss doesn’t prove a distraction. A balanced palate full of dark berries and cherries. The acidity and tannin are on the upper edge, showcasing both variety and region, with drying, grippy tannins and cutting acidity. Very good now and for up to 10 years.
