Quite a few bits of bling for this blend from Shaw Estate, including a Trophy at the 2017 NSW Wine Awards. The blend ratio is 77% Cabernet Sauvignon & 23% Shiraz.
Shaw Vineyard Estate, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Canberra, 2015
A dark garnet colour with purple edges. Packs a heady perfume filled with purple, black and red berries, plenty of white pepper spice and touch of spearmint. The palate gives a 4 quarter performance as each part of the blend plays its appropriate part with stacks of blackcurrant, plum and cedary spice. Lingering choc-mint gives a pleasant coda. The oak is noticeable but doesn’t detract from the overall experience. Delicious drinking now and plenty of potential to age.
