As the Prosecco War gets hotter than the Cold War this neat little number comes from De Bortoli’s King Valley plantings. Winemaker is John Coughlan.
De Bortoli, Prosecco, King Valley, NV
Excited bubbles with a persistent bead. Expressive and fruity nose with plenty of pear, grape, white flowers, apple and light candle wax. Carries a little excess with the residual sugar giving some rounder, soft melon characters but still delivers with varietal freshness. Not quite reminiscent of sitting in Venice, but a well put together party starter: with or without the Aperol to make a spritz.
RRP: $18
