Angullong have produced a winner here. In fact, trophy winning: Best Other Red Variety at the 2017 Orange Wine Show and Best Dry Red Table Wine, (Spanish & Italian Varieties) at the 2017 NSW Small Winemakers Wine Show. Impressive.
Angullong, Fossil Hill, Tempranillo, Orange, 2016
Oozes aromas of cherries and concrete with essence of raspberry, light spearmint, leaf and suggestions of kid skin leather. On the palate, dark cherry fruit sweetness powerfully lifted by bitter herby licorice and carried long with fine, almost chewy tannins. Doesn’t push the over ripe fruit barrow too far, nor does it recreate the gravel transported by the barrow. Sits neatly balanced in the notch between. Excellent now; even better in 3 years.
