Sourced from nearly 50 year old semillon vines. Scored Top Gold at the 2017 Mudgee Wine Show. Does Mudgee rival the Hunter Valley for quality semillon?
Huntington Estate, Special Reserve, Semillon, Mudgee, 2016
Strong, clean lemon-spectrum focus nose (think juice, pith, Morning Fresh, verbena) with just a hint of foretelling honeycomb nipping at the heels. Takes a citrus twist to lime on the palate with richer, softer characters at the front (even a touch of crab-apple) before shutting down tight, lean…leaving only texture and a lingering sensation of the acidity. Good to very good, and easily could hold its own to those bright lights of the Hunter Valley.
