Canberra and Cabernet aren’t the usual pairing, but some notable success for this wine: winning the Australian Cabernet Sauvignon Trophy at the 2018 International Wine Challenge.
Shaw Vineyard Estate, Merriman, Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, Canberra, 2015
Richly fruited, blue and black. Fine cedar lines, while menthol/mint underscore. Savoury notes of earth and dark spices. Precise and balanced, with peppery black fruits and gauze like tannins. The finish gives a lingering incense ash smokiness that curls tight. A fine release, elegant and distinguished.
