Pizzini take their sangiovese seriously. A range of 6 wines. The Forza di Ferro (strength from iron) is 2nd top marque. Pizzini have just rolled to the 2016, but if you have this in the cellar, use my notes as a resistance to temptation.
Pizzini, Forza di Ferro, Sangiovese, King Valley, 2015
Compelling and sentimental aromas. Hints of chocolate/licorice bullets, all manner of cherry, crushed kitchen herbs, blackcurrant and subtle sweet oak nuances. Approachable and full yet complexity delivered with layers of concentrated dark cherry/berry fruit garnished by aforementioned herbs. A web of firm, yet malleable tannin that holds taut with a finger click of acidity as coda. Charitable now, generous later.
