Part of the Pizzini family’s excellent Sangiovese range. They’ve just rolled to the 2018 vintage but there should be some of this about.
Pizzini, Nonna Gisella, Sangiovese, King Valley, 2017
Seriously smells like an Italian dinner: Sugo and fresh torn Italianate herbs (basil/oregano) with just enough natural meatiness (think ‘Ndjua). Rich cherry and subtle bitter chinotto round out the flavours. Medium bodied and still fresh and vibrant. Partial stainless steel fermentation ensures crispness, simply craving to cut through a pasta or pizza, yet finishes with fine, easy tannins ensuring drinkability.
