In Greek mythology, the Styx River had a ferryman, Charon. Apparently you had to pay with an obolus. To get across the Styx Gully for this Chardonnay, you’ll need about $30. Sourced from a single vineyard, the Langton, in the Mount Barker region of Western Australia.
West Cape Howe, Styx Gully, Chardonnay, Mount Barker, 2018
Rich peach, lemon, melon skin, hints of ghee, hessian and a minerally beach sand note. Yeasty, bready notes run to dinner roll more than brioche and the nose leaves lingering nutty notes. Good palate weight exposing breadth with balance of fruit to well judged phenolics. Crisp and taut to finish moreish.
RRP: $30
