From the high slopes of Mount Canobolas in the central west of New South Wales. Current custodians of the six hectare vineyard, Bill and Jane Shrapnel took over in 2013 after being planted in the 1990’s.
“2022 was the latest harvest we have experienced,” explains Bill. “Whereas we normally pick our riesling in March, in 2022 we started picking on the 19th of April, and finished on the 3rd of May. Ultimately, we harvested the most beautiful riesling we have seen – clean as a whistle, beautifully ripe and with scintillating acidity.”
Colmar Estate, Riesling, Orange, 2022

Very pale lemon hue. “Medium Dry” on the IRF scale with 12 grams of residual sugar per litre. Lifted, floral and chalky nose. Some fennel frond, honeysuckle, pear and apple skin, lime flesh and steel. Maintains a lovely balance with purity and linear focus offsetting the fleshy, creamy generosity that comes from the style. Plenty of bright acidity driving the finish.
