City Winery The Singularity Vin Pêche 2021

Here we have a unique prospect, winemaker David Cush brings fruit into the middle of Brisbane and makes wines under the banner of City Winery There’s multiple experiences for the crowds as well with wine blending or even wine making at the right time of the year (along with tastings and eating things). This one is 80% Pinot Gris and 20% Shiraz, sourced from St Jude’s Estate in the Granite Belt grape growing region of Queensland (where it even snows sometimes!).  Some of the Pinot Gris kept on skins for 3 months post ferment (making it an ‘orange’ wine), while the Shiraz was crushed by being foot stomped by 300+ fans at a festival in a car park and bled off to create rosé. Both parcels basket pressed and matured in old French oak for 6 months. The blend is a style the CW team are calling Vin Pêche (rosé + orange/skin contact white = peach?).

The label (artwork and back text) designed by AI engines, giving a nod to the wine’s name. A little irony in that Dave’s wife Kris is an exceptional artist in her own right.

CWSingularityRose

Light cerise hue. Nutty and smoky with a deep meatiness, baked pear, Eton Mess, light rosewater and grapefruit. Deeply flavoured, with serious berry tones offset by savoury qualities: meaty nuances and bright citrus kicking in at the close. With the smoky notes and the crispness, serve with a big tray of just-seared salmon nigiri.

 RRP: $30
Alc: 12.5%
