Yalumba Barossa Shiraz 2021

Apparently the 2022 is also out there now, but it feels like I only just received this one as part of the media release. Oh well, bound still be readily available. Part of the “Samuel’s Collection” range. Yalumba have such a playground of oak to work with: Matured for 10 months in 6% new French and Hungarian hogsheads and barriques. The rest in old
puncheons, barriques and hogsheads. Winemaker is Alexey Alon Dumbuay. Vegan friendly.

Yalumba, Samuel’s Collection, Shiraz, Barossa, 2021

Plenty of delectable, varietal black plums, pepper and chocolate. Some cooler blackberry notes, a little sweet toffee, mocha, spice rack and flint. Structured and well made. Fruit is rich but the wine retains elegance through the fine, plentiful tannins. Absolutely nails the brief and is dependable.

RRP: $28
Alc: 14.5%
Rating: 91/100
