From the regional NSW region of Hilltops (around the township of Young). Briar Ridge forms part of a greater stable that includes the renowned Pepper Tree. Bottled under (a very tight) Diam. Winemaker is Alex Beckett.
Briar Ridge, Hillrose, Shiraz, Hilltops, 2022
Earthly fragrant, root veg and mocha, some camphor, clove studs, black fruit conserve, shiny fruit straps and a little prune juice. Mid weight with green edges, acidity juts out with citrus sharpness. Spice over rose petals with a tacky, confectionary red fruit feel. The acid makes this very bouncy and puppy fresh. I’d like to see this settle down for a while before opening up again.
RRP: $65
Alc: 12.8%
