Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Shiraz 2019

Still arguably one of the most underpriced wines in the country. Celebrating leading winemaker Kevin “KG” Glastonbury and Rob Nettlebeck (Chief Viticulturist). This release a blend of 52% Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Barossa Shiraz. Fermentation in open top stainless steel (wild) and then 19 months in 25% new
French barriques and Hungarian hogsheads, with the rest in old French and Hungarian barriques and hogsheads. Bottled under (a very good) cork.

Yalumba, The Signature, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Barossa, 2019

TheSignature-CabernetSauvignonShiraz-2019

Such calmness and sense of self. Purple florals, baking spices, choc mint, blueberry muffin, bluestone, dark cherry, a suggestion of formic acid/crushed ant and comforting oak. Silky and smooth like a satin sheet. Dark fruit richness tempered with dark spice and enlivened with cool mint freshness. Layer upon layer of fruit interplay with incredibly fine, exquisite tannin through such a long, expressive finish. Very fine straight out of the bottle and the potential for many years yet.
