Fruit for this comes from the Moorilla (Estate) site with the picks being a month apart (from March 3 to April 4th. Interestingly, for a 2 hectare vineyard Moorilla had 9 separate picks across the month for all their fruit). Winemaker Conor Van Der Reest says that the site is prone producing robust fruit with the early picking to give some balance to the later ripening harvests. Note, bottle image shows 2016, but naught else has changed on the label.
Moorilla, Muse, Pinot Noir, Tasmania, 2018

Deep garnet. Deep and brooding nose. Kirsch, tobacco, tomato leaf, chary oak, deep caramel, toasted brown spices and singed orange rind. Bound and wound. Muscular, with smooth, quicksilver tannins and a cool-mint freshness to close. Will be interesting to see how this develops, but I would also be enjoying now in youth.
